Hiei, on March 15 (in old lunar calendar) or September 15 (in old lunar calendar) at the western foot of Mt. Hiei or at the temples in and around Heian-kyo (ancient Kyoto), in the mid through latter period of the Heian period.

- In 'Heike Monogatari' (The tale of the Heike), there is a tale that FUJIWARA no Moromichi, chief adviser to the Emperor, died of punishment from the God of the Hiyoshi-taisha Shrine because he had attacked Daishu (The monks residing in the zendo) of the Enryaku-ji Temple in ancient times (in those days when syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism was being established, the Enryaku-ji Temple on Mt.Hiei and the Hiyoshi-taisha Shrine on its foot were regarded as the same entity and the Butsubachi caused by his attack against priests was given in the form of punishment from the god of the Hiyoshi-taisha Shrine).

- それらは、島庄遺跡、石神遺跡、水落遺跡 など遺跡の存在地の字 (あざ、大字の場合も小字の場合も) を冠するもの、雷丘東方遺跡、甘樫丘東麓遺跡 など遺跡の存在地を他の地理的名称から示したもの、川原寺跡、飛鳥寺跡 など建造物に由来するもの、飛鳥池遺跡、飛鳥京跡苑池遺構 など遺跡の機能や形状を示したものなどがある。

- 海老芋は、享保(1716~1736)の頃、東山 (京都府)の1つ、華頂山麓にある青蓮院の門跡が、九州を巡行し、海老のような縞模様の芋を持ち帰り、その芋を仕えていた平野権太夫が拝領して、同じ華頂山西側の小丘である円山の地で栽培したところ、海老のような反りと縞模様をもった質の良い芋ができたので、その姿から、海老芋と名付けられたと云われている。
- It is said that during the Kyoho era (1716 - 1736), the head monk of Shoren-in Temple at the base of Mt. Kacho, one of Higashiyama mountain range (in Kyoto Prefecture), brought back with him striped potatoes shaped like shrimp when he returned from his travel over Kyushu; the potatoes were given to Gondayu HIRANO who served the monk, and when the potatoes were cultivated in the land of Maruyama, which is a hillock on the western side of the Mt. Kacho, the potatoes harvested were of excellent quality and had warpage and stripe patterns like those of shrimp, and thus were given the name ebiimo.

- 古墳の編年などから大型古墳はその時代の盟主(大王)の墳墓である可能性が高いことなどから推測すると、古墳時代の前期(3世紀の中葉から4世紀の初期)に奈良盆地の東南部の三輪山山麓に大和古墳群・柳本大塚が展開し、渋谷向山古墳(景行陵に比定)、箸墓古墳(卑弥呼の墓と推測する研究者もいる)、行燈山古墳(崇神陵に比定)、メスリ山古墳、西殿塚古墳(手白香皇女墓と比定)などの墳丘長が300から200メートルある大古墳が点在し、この地方(現桜井市や天理市)に王権があったことがわかる。

Miwa, in the southeast of Nara basin in the early Kofun period (from about the middle of the third century to the early fourth century), and large scattered kofun with the hill length of 300 meters to 200 meters such as Shibutani Mukoyama-kofun Tumulus (identified as a mausoleum of Emperor Keiko), Hashihaka-kofun Tumulus (surmised by some researchers to be a grave of Himiko), Andonyama-kofun Tumulus (identified as a mausoleum of Emperor Sujin), Mesuriyama-kofun Tumulus, and Nishitonotsuka-kofun Tumulus (identified as the grave of Tashiraka no Himemiko).
