- On November 19, 1697, Shigehide OGIWARA, a kanjo bugyo of the bakufu, summoned and handed rusuiyaku (persons representing the master during his absence) of the Edo residences owned by territorial lords a memorandum saying 'it is completely unforgivable that there are many sake merchants and that commoners drink sake unnecessarily. Therefore, business taxes shall be imposed on all sake breweries. Add the business taxes onto the price of sake and sell alcoholic drinks for 50 percent more than the previous price.'

- When the development of marshland in Musashi Province (presently Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture) was completed for the time being, the fourth shogun FUJIWARA no Yoritsune was told of a government strategy that, as a public works project, they planned to draw irrigation water from the Tama-gawa River water system to secure drinking water and to develop rice paddies but since it was located true north of Kamakura City, the home of the Kamakura Shogunate, the direction of the proposed development was judged as daibondo (the unluckiest direction) by onmyoji and the Shogun's residence consequently was moved (katatagae as called in Onmyodo) from Kamakura to another house of Akita jo no suke Yoshikage (秋田城介善景) in the present Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City which was deemed a lucky direction prior to ordering the commencement of construction.

- The quarantine station chief may conduct investigations into food, drinking water, sewage and other waste, filthy water, rats and insects in vessels or aircrafts only within the area of each quarantine port or quarantine airport specified by a Cabinet Order, or conduct investigations of seawater, sewage and other waste, filthy water, rats and insects in facilities, buildings and other places located in such areas, or may assign a quarantine officer to the job, in order to determine whether or not there are insects that can transmit quarantinable infectious disease-causing pathogens or other diseases equivalent to those specified by a Cabinet Order, and to clarify the hygiene conditions with respect to such diseases in the quarantine port or quarantine airport.
- 第六条、第八条、第十条、第十一条第一項及び第二項、第十六条から第二十条まで、第二十五条から第五十六条まで並びに第五十八条から第六十条までの規定は、乳幼児が接触することによりその健康を損なうおそれがあるものとして厚生労働大臣の指定するおもちやについて、これを準用する。この場合において、第十条中「添加物(天然香料及び一般に食品として飲食に供されている物であつて添加物として使用されるものを除く。)」とあるのは、「おもちやの添加物として用いることを目的とする化学的合成品(化学的手段により元素又は化合物に分解反応以外の化学的反応を起こさせて得られた物質をいう。)」と読み替えるものとする。
- The provisions of Article 6, Article 8, Article 10, Article 11, paragraphs (1) and (2), Articles 16 to 20, Articles 25 to 56, and Articles 58 to 60 shall apply mutatis mutandis to toys designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare as those likely to harm the health of infants when they touch such toys. In this case, the term "Additives (excluding natural flavoring agents and articles that have generally been served for human consumption and are used as additives)" in Article 10 shall be deemed to be replaced with "Chemically synthesized compounds (meaning substances obtained by causing a chemical reaction other than a degradation reaction to elements or compounds by chemical means) intended to be used as additives for toys."

- Affairs that are to be determined by prefectures pursuant to the provisions of Article 25, paragraph (1) (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraphs (1) and (3)), Article 26, paragraph (1) (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraph (1)), Article 28, paragraph (1) (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraphs (1) and (3); the same shall apply hereinafter), Article 30, paragraph (2) (excluding the part pertaining to monitoring and guidance accompanying the approval of a business prescribed in Article 51 (limited to restaurant businesses and other sales businesses that are specified by a Cabinet Order) and including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraphs (1) and (3); the same shall apply hereinafter), Article 54 (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraphs (1) and (3); the same shall apply hereinafter), Article 58, paragraph (1) (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraph (1)), and Article 59, paragraph (1) (including the cases where it is applied mutatis mutandis under Article 62, paragraph (1); the same shall apply hereinafter) shall be deemed to be item 1 legally delegated affairs.
- 第一号若しくは第三号に掲げる疾病にかかり、若しくはその疑いがあり、第一号若しくは第三号に掲げる異常があり、又はへい死した獣畜(と畜場法(昭和二十八年法律第百十四号)第三条第一項に規定する獣畜及び厚生労働省令で定めるその他の物をいう。以下同じ。)の肉、骨、乳、臓器及び血液又は第二号若しくは第三号に掲げる疾病にかかり、若しくはその疑いがあり、第二号若しくは第三号に掲げる異常があり、又はへい死した家きん(食鳥処理の事業の規制及び食鳥検査に関する法律(平成二年法律第七十号)第二条第一号に規定する食鳥及び厚生労働省令で定めるその他の物をいう。以下同じ。)の肉、骨及び臓器は、厚生労働省令で定める場合を除き、これを食品として販売し、又は食品として販売の用に供するために、採取し、加工し、使用し、調理し、貯蔵し、若しくは陳列してはならない。ただし、へい死した獣畜又は家きんの肉、骨及び臓器であつて、当該職員が、人の健康を損なうおそれがなく飲食に適すると認めたものは、この限りでない。
- The meat, bones, milk, organs, and blood of livestock (meaning livestock prescribed in Article 3, paragraph (1) of the Slaughterhouse Act (Act No. 114 of 1953) and others specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; the same shall apply hereinafter) which have or are suspected to have any of the diseases listed in item (i) or item (iii), have any of the disorders listed in item (i) or item (iii), or have died, or the meat, bones, and organs of poultry (meaning poultry prescribed in Article 2, item (i) of the Poultry Slaughtering Business Control and Poultry Meat Inspection Act (Act No. 70 of 1990) and others specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; the same shall apply hereinafter) which have or are suspected to have any of the diseases listed in item (ii) or item (iii), have any of the disorders listed in item (ii) or item (iii), or have died shall not be sold as food, or be collected, processed, used, cooked, stored, or displayed as food for the purpose of marketing, except for cases specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; provided, however, that this shall not apply to the meat, bones, and organs of dead livestock or poultry which the ministry officials find as involving no risk to human health and as being edible.
- 法第三十二条の三第二項の厚生労働省令で定めるときは、当分の間、第二十条第二項に規定するほか、同項の芸能家、家政婦(家政一般の業務(個人の家庭又は寄宿舎その他これに準ずる施設において行われるものに限る。)、患者、病弱者等の付添いの業務又は看護の補助の業務(病院等の施設において行われるものに限る。)を行う者)、配ぜん人(正式の献立による食事を提供するホテル、料理店、会館等において、正式の作法による食卓の布設、配ぜん、給仕等の業務(これらの業務に付随した飲食器等の器具の整理及び保管に必要な業務を含む。)を行う者)、調理士(調理、栄養及び衛生に関する専門的な知識及び技能を有し、調理の業務を行う者)、同項のモデル又はマネキン(専門的な商品知識及び宣伝技能を有し、店頭、展示会等において相対する顧客の購買意欲をそそり、販売の促進に資するために各種商品の説明、実演等の宣伝の業務(この業務に付随した販売の業務を含む。)を行う者)の職業に係る求職者から求職の申込みを受理した時以降六百七十円(免税事業者にあつては、六百五十円)の求職受付手数料を徴収するときとする。ただし、同一の求職者に係る求職の申込みの受理が一箇月間に三件を超える場合にあつては、一箇月につき三件分に相当する額とする。
- The cases specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as provided by Article 32-3, paragraph 2 of the Act shall be, for the time being, in addition to the cases provided by Article 20, paragraph 2, the cases under which the fee of 670 yen (or 650 yen in case of a tax exempt business provider) for accepting the job application is collected upon acceptance of the job application of a job seeker for occupations pertaining to the entertainer set forth in the same paragraph, domestic helper (a person who provides general housekeeping businesses (limited to those provided at a house of an individual, dormitory or other equivalent facilities)), care-giving or nursing-assisting businesses for patients, invalids, etc. (limited to those provided at a hospital or other equivalent facility), person in charge of serving food (a person who provides table-coordinating, food-serving or waiting businesses, etc. following proper manners at a hotel, restaurant, hall, etc. serving foods by following proper menu (including the businesses necessary for organizing and storing the tools such as the tableware associated with such businesses)), cook (a person having the expertise and skills concerning the cooking, nutrition and sanitation and providing cooking businesses), modeling in the same paragraph or mannequin (a person having the expertise and advertising skills concerning the goods and providing such advertising businesses as the explanation, demonstration, etc. of various goods for stimulating the willingness to spend of the customers over-the-counter or at the exhibition (including the sales businesses)); provided, however, the amount shall be equivalent to the fees for three such cases per month if the number of the job applications accepted from the same job seeker exceeds three per month.
