- The Company and the Regional Companies shall, in operating their own businesses, give due consideration to the maintenance of its proper and efficient management and shall contribute to the securement of appropriate, fair and stable provision of nationwide telephone services which are indispensable to the lives of people; additionally, the Company and the Regional Companies shall endeavor, in view of the importance of the role which telecommunications will play for the social and economical progress in the future, to contribute to the innovative advancement and development of telecommunications in Japan through the promotion of research and development concerning telecommunications technology and through dissemination of the results thereof, and thereby promote the public welfare.
- 私的使用を目的として、デジタル方式の録音又は録画の機能を有する機器(放送の業務のための特別の性能その他の私的使用に通常供されない特別の性能を有するもの及び録音機能付きの電話機その他の本来の機能に附属する機能として録音又は録画の機能を有するものを除く。)であつて政令で定めるものにより、当該機器によるデジタル方式の録音又は録画の用に供される記録媒体であつて政令で定めるものに録音又は録画を行う者は、相当な額の補償金を著作権者に支払わなければならない。

- With regard to those engineers of a train, diesel railcar, electric railcar, automobile, ship or aircraft, drivers, pilots, conductors, train masters, baggagemen, trainmen, stewards, air conditioning engineers and power supply officers (hereinafter referred to as "crew members") who continuously work on board over a long distance for the businesses designated in item (iv) of appended table 1 of the Act, or those workers who are employed for the postal, mail delivery, telegraphic, or telephone businesses a post office having less than 30 indoor workers for the enterprises designated in item (xi) of the same table, an employer may give them no rest periods notwithstanding the provision of Article 34 of the Act.

- The State may, for the time being, provide local governments with loans without interest, within its budgetary limit, as funds to be allocated for covering the expenses to be incurred by the local governments in independently implementing projects to establish facilities for the promotion of effective utilization of resources through the use of Recyclable Resources or Reusable Parts, which fall under Article 2, paragraph 1, item 2 of the Act on Special Measures Concerning Promotion of Development of Social Infrastructure through Utilization of Income from Sales of Stock of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (Act No. 86 of 1987), or as funds to be allocated for covering the expenses for subsidies to be given by the local governments to the private business operators that carry out such projects.

- With respect to the amount of expenses for test and research for the business year to which the date of incorporation of the Company belongs, the main provisions of Article 42-4 paragraph (1) of the Special Taxation Measures Act (Act No. 26 of 1957) shall apply: Provided that 'the amount of expenses for test and research of each business year to be included in the amount of loss in the calculation of income for the respective business year during the period from the business year (in this article referred to as 'the reference year') immediately prior to the business year of the juridical person including January 1, 1967 to the business year immediately prior to said applicable business year' in the same paragraph shall be read as 'the amount of expenses for test and research for the business year including April 1, 1984 of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation', and that 'in the case of exceeding the largest amount of' in the same paragraph shall be read as 'in the case of exceeding the amount of', the provision of the same paragraph shall not apply.

- Requesting that the Obligor, etc. perform his/her obligations by calling, sending a telegram, transmitting a message by using a facsimile machine, or visiting the Obligor, etc., without justifiable grounds and in spite of the fact that the Obligor, etc. has entrusted the arrangement of obligations under the Contract for a Loan to an attorney-at-law or legal professional corporation or to a judicial scrivener or judicial scrivener corporation (hereinafter collectively referred to as an 'Attorney-at-Law, etc.' in this item), or in spite of the fact that the Obligor, etc. has taken procedures toward a civil case in the necessary court for such arrangements and the Money Lender has received notice to that effect in writing from his/her Attorney-at-Law, etc. or from the court, and continues to request performance of said obligations in any of the aforementioned manners, although the Obligor, etc. has requested that the Money Lender not directly demand performance; and

- For the time being, the national government may, within the scope of the budget, provide loans without interest to a prefectural government (including Designated Cities, etc., in the case where they handle the affairs set forth in Article 56-2 paragraph (1) that are supposed to be handled by a prefectural government pursuant to the provision of Article 59-4 paragraph (1); the same shall apply hereinafter in this paragraph and paragraph (7)), and any such loan shall be in the amount equivalent to the amount that can be subsidized by the national government pursuant to the provision of Article 56-2 paragraph (3) (including the provisions of the laws and regulations, if any, which provide for other different percentages that can be subsidized by the national government; the same shall apply hereinafter). Such loans shall be funded to be appropriated to the expenses subsidized by said prefectural government to social welfare corporations established pursuant to the provision of Article 31 paragraph (1) of the Social Welfare Act, the Japanese Red Cross Society or non-profit incorporated associations or non-profit incorporated foundations, if such subsidies from said prefectural government are granted for the expenses spent for such Construction, etc. of institutions for mentally retarded children, etc. that can be subsidized by the national government pursuant to the provision of pursuant to the provision of Article 56-2 paragraph (3) and that falls under Article 2 item (ii) paragraph (1) of the Act on Special Measures concerning Promotion of Development of Infrastructures by Utilization of Revenues from the Sale of Shares of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (Act No. 86 of 1987) (hereinafter referred to as "Act on Special Measures concerning Infrastructure Development").
- 東会社が、その設立の日 以後三年以内に終了する各事業年度(その終了の日を西会社の事業年度終了の日と同じくする事業年度に限る。以下「適用年度」という。)の確定した決算にお いて利益の処分による経理をした前条の規定により西会社に対して交付する金銭の額(以下「交付金の額」という。)のうち西会社の対応年度(その終了の日を 当該適用年度終了の日と同じくする事業年度をいう。以下同じ。)において生じた欠損金額(当該交付金の額に相当する金額を益金の額に算入しなかったとした 場合に生じることとなる法人税法(昭和四十年法律第三十四号)第二条第十九号に規定する欠損金額に相当する金額とする。)に達するまでの金額は、当該適用 年度の所得の金額の計算上、損金の額に算入する。この場合において、東会社に対する同法第三十七条の規定の適用については、同条第一項中「経理をした金 額」とあるのは「経理をした金額(日本電信電話株式会社法の一部を改正する法律(平成九年法律第九十八号)附則第十二条第七項に規定する交付金の額のうち 同項に規定する欠損金額に達するまでの金額(次項において「損金算入交付金額」という。)を除く。)」と、同条第二項中「寄付金の額を除く」とあるのは 「寄付金の額及び損金算入交付金額を除く」とする。
- Within the amount of money subsidized to NTT West (hereinafter referred to as 'the amount of subsidization') by NTT East under the provisions of the preceding article as a disposition of the settled profits related to each business year which ends within three years after the incorporation of NTT East (limited to only the business year of which ending date is the same as the ending date of the business year of the NTT West (hereinafter referred to as 'the applicable business year')), the amount of money not exceeding the amount of deficit (which shall be equal to the deficit under the provisions of Article 2 paragraph (19) of the Corporate Tax Act (Act No. 34 of 1965) in cases where the amount of money equivalent to said amount of subsidization is excluded from its profits) in the corresponding business year of NTT West (meaning the business year whose ending date is the same as said applicable business year; the same shall apply hereinafter) shall be deductible in the accounting of said applicable business year. In this case, with respect to the application of the provisions of Article 37 of the same act to NTT East, 'the accounted amount' in paragraph (1) of the same article shall be read as 'except the accounted amount (the amount of money under the provisions of Article 12 paragraph (7) of the Supplementary Provisions of the Act to Amend the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation Act (Act No. 98 as of 1997) within the amount of deficit equal to the amount of subsidization (in the following paragraph referred to as 'the amount of subsidization deductible'))', and 'excluding the amount of contributions' in paragraph (2) of the same article shall be read as 'except the amount of donations and the amount of subsidization deductible'.
