- Member of crew (i.e. limited to those who have the nationality of the foreign states engaging in armed attack) in vessels (i.e. except for warships, and ships owned or operated by each Government only for non-commercial purposes (hereinafter referred to as "warships, etc.")), which are escorted by warships, etc. of enemy armed forces, etc., or in ships which transport foreign military supplies, etc. (referred to as "foreign military supplies, etc." in the following (d)) as prescribed in item (iii) of Article 2 of the Act on the Restriction of Maritime Transportation of Foreign Military Supplies, etc. in Armed Attack Situations (Act No. 116 of 2004);

- However, Takao ICHIMURA raised many questions in his book, 'Togoku no Sengoku Kassen' (Battles in Togoku (the eastern part of Japan, particularly Kanto region) during the Sengoku period) (published by Yoshikawa Kobunkan Inc. in 2009), like 'how the official army forming the main constituent in battle secured war funds and so on,' 'whether the enemy territory was plundered and various kinds of goods looted,' 'although the social condition was presented concretely, it is wonder how a situation of the authority side starting the battle as well as a direct opportunity leading to the battle was related to such social conditions,' and so on, and future discussions are expected.
- 抑留資格認定官は、被拘束者が抑留対象者(軍隊等非構成員捕虜に限る。)に該当する旨の抑留資格認定をする場合においては、併せて、当該被拘束者を抑留する必要性についての判定をしなければならない。この場合において、当該被拘束者の抑留は、武力攻撃を排除するために必要な自衛隊の行動を円滑かつ効果的に実施するため特に必要と認めるときに限るものとし、抑留資格認定官は、あらかじめ、その判定について、防衛大臣の承認を得なければならない。
- The recognition officer of internment status shall, when he/she is about to recognize that the captive person falls a person subject to internment (limited to prisoner of war other than the member of armed forces, etc.), also decide the necessity for interning said captive person. In this case, the internment of said captive person shall be limited to the case in which it is found to be especially necessary in order to conduct necessary operation of the Self-Defense Forces for repelling the armed attack smoothly and effectively, and the recognition officer of internment status shall obtain the approval of the Minister of Defense on the decision in advance.

- As an expression of its desire to indemnify those members of the armed forces of the Allied Powers who suffered undue hardships while prisoners of war of Japan, Japan will transfer its assets and those of its nationals in countries which were neutral during the war, or which were at war with any of the Allied Powers, or, at its option, the equivalent of such assets, to the International Committee of the Red Cross which shall liquidate such assets and distribute the resultant fund to appropriate national agencies, for the benefit of former prisoners of war and their families on such basis as it may determine to be equitable.

- (1) Western clothes became more popular than ever in Japan; (2) there brought about a tendency to deny the previous culture because of the loss of the war, and, to make the matter worse, the fundoshi was something the military forced them to wear; (3) because of the advancement of industrialization, people moved from agricultural communities to urban areas to change the traditional family form to a nuclear family, and thus it made it hard to continue the culture in which wearing fundoshi was often symbolically celebrated as a rite of passage to be a grown-up man; (4) as women were encouraged to participate in society, household chores were simplified and thus the time for sewing fundoshi at home became limited; (5) manufacturers of fundoshi were practically decreased and it made it hard for people to get fundoshi at stores; and (6) new types of undergarments, such as a brief type and a trunks type of underpants, appeared at low prices, those functional, and were seen fashionable, undergarments became popular mainly among young people.

- Therefore, he who considers it necessary to secure himself in his new principality, to win friends, to overcome either by force or fraud, to make himself beloved and feared by the people, to be followed and revered by the soldiers, to exterminate those who have power or reason to hurt him, to change the old order of things for new, to be severe and gracious, magnanimous and liberal, to destroy a disloyal soldiery and to create new, to maintain friendship with kings and princes in such a way that they must help him with zeal and offend with caution, cannot find a more lively example than the actions of this man.
- 1 日本国は、現在の領域が日本国軍隊によつて占領され、且つ、日本国によつて損害を与えられた連合国が希望するときは、生産、沈船引揚げその他の作業における日本人の役務を当該連合国の利用に供することによつて、与えた損害を修復する費用をこれらの国に補償することに資するために、当該連合国とすみやかに交渉を開始するものとする。その取極は、他の連合国に追加負担を課することを避けなければならない。また、原材料からの製造が必要とされる場合には、外国為替上の負担を日本国に課さないために、原材料は、当該連合国が供給しなければならない。
- 1. Japan will promptly enter into negotiations with Allied Powers so desiring, whose present territories were occupied by Japanese forces and damaged by Japan, with a view to assisting to compensate those countries for the cost of repairing the damage done, by making available the services of the Japanese people in production, salvaging and other work for the Allied Powers in question. Such arrangements shall avoid the imposition of additional liabilities on other Allied Powers, and, where the manufacturing of raw materials is called for, they shall be supplied by the Allied Powers in question, so as not to throw any foreign exchange burden upon Japan.
