- 承和7年(840年)に淳和上皇が危篤となり、兄の嵯峨天皇や仁明天皇に遠慮して「自分の遺骨を散骨して、この世に野心を残していないことを示して欲しい」と遺言すると、吉野は必死に押し留めようとしたが、間もなく上皇が崩御すると、吉野は泣く泣くその指示を実行したという。
- Reportedly, when the Retired Emperor Junna fell into critical condition in 840 and expressed his dying wish out of consideration for feeling of his elder brother, the Emperor Saga and the Emperor Ninmyo 'Please scatter my ashes to show that I leave no ambition in this world,' Yoshino desperately tried to stop him but, after the Retired Emperor died before long, he tearfully executed the instruction.
- 実際、長門国守と紛争を起こした在庁官人が意趣返し的に苛政上訴を行う事例や、丹波国守を苛政上訴していた百姓らがその直後に当該国守を称揚する書状を提出した事例、上訴百姓が京にある国守宅に焼き打ちした事例など、むしろ郡司・百姓層に私欲的な姿勢を見いだすこともできる。
- In fact, rather selfish desires of Gunji and farmers can be seen in some cases: for example, Kokushi kasei joso was a revenge by zaichokanjin (the local officials in Heian and Kamakura periods) who had an argument with Nagato no kuni no kami (governor of Nagato Province); farmers submitted a letter to praise their Tanba no kuni no kami immediately after Kokushi kasei joso; and appealing farmers set fire to the kokushi's residence in Kyoto.
- どうか私と同じ志(仏教への信仰)をもってここに来た人達には、(様々な考え方の)空か有か(といった瑣末な事)を論じて(志を)滞らせることなく、自分の欲望を忘れて(学問や修行に励み)、後進の人達には世俗の苦労などを超越して悟りの境地を開いて欲しいと願うものである。
- I sincerely wish that those who come here with the same aspirations (faith in Buddhism) will abandon one's own desires (focus on learning and training) without wasting themselves on trivial matters of various thoughts, and those who are to follow will transcend worldly matters and open the path toward revelation.

- The Konoike zaibatsu, as the wealthiest merchant in Japan during the Edo period, did not expand its business from finance to other fields due to the family rule that prohibited the business expansion to other than the family business; however, it can be said that the Konoike zaibatsu had the characteristics of an investment zaibatsu because the Konoike family ultimately founded various enterprises in response to requests from financial communities that had tried to acquire the family reputation after the Meiji period, and consequently the family had the status of a major shareholder.

- The emperor says `As far as I understand, 'Teiki and 'Honji' (accounts of origin) that have been handed down to families are falsified and are not like the original one. The original intentions will be lost within a few years unless corrected now. These are the precious teachings of the imperial court, to establish a sold foundation to guide the people. Therefore, I will advisedly select Teiki, and find kyuji to eliminate the false parts and find the truth to succeed future generations. He was such a bright man and was able to immediately express something he saw in words and never forgot the word he heard. The emperor immediately ordered Are to read and learn Kyuji that describes the lineage and incidents of past emperors that the emperor determined and selected himself.
- 一方で刀は売買の対象でもあり、特に明治時代以後現代にいたるまで、骨董品として、美術品として、刀に商品としての性格、趣味の物としての性格が強くなると、商品価値を上げるための客観性を欠いた表記や宣伝的な表記、所有欲をくすぐる表記、自分が好きな刀への思い入れたっぷりの表記、などがある。
- On the other hand, swords are traded for money, and especially from the Meiji period to the modern times, when swords, as antiques and art objects, came to have character as commodities or hobby objects, there are descriptions without objectivity, promotional descriptions to increase commercial value, descriptions to stimulate desires for possession and descriptions full of feelings toward a favorite sword.
- また、秀吉は当初は征夷大将軍への就任に意欲を示したとも言われているが実現せず、代わって偶発的事情から得た関白の地位を武家である豊臣氏による世襲制度(公家である藤原氏の五摂家を排除)に変更して、幕府制度に代わる武家関白制(ぶけかんぱくせい)とも言うべき体制を導入しようとしたと考えられている。
- It is said that after Hideyoshi's failure to accomplish his desire to become 'Seii Taishogun', he introduced a new system, 'the Kanpaku system by the samurai family' instead of the 'Bakufu' system; the status of 'Kanpaku' was given to him through accidental events, and he tried to change the status to the Toyotomi-clan hereditary system (by excluding five Fujiwara Gosekke (five top Fujiwara families whose members were eligible for the positions of Sessho and Kanpaku)).

- The abuse of power under three generations of the Soga clan can be gleaned from events such as the assassination of Emperor Sushun by SOGA no Umako, the demand for the ceding of Katsuragi-ken from Empress Suiko, neglect of the throne by SOGA no Emishi, and the coup against Jogu Ooke (Prince Yamashiro no oe) by SOGA no Iruka, and the overthrow of SAKAIBE no Marise.
- これも『薬師経』に薬師如来の力で人々の悪行が全て消滅するであろうと説いている中の、「告林神・樹神・山神・塚神・種々別神、殺諸畜生、取其血肉、祭祀一切夜叉羅刹食血肉者、書怨人字、并作其形、成就種々毒害呪術・厭魅蠱道・起屍鬼呪、欲断彼命、及壊其身」の句、特に「殺諸畜生」以下が基になったものとの説もある
- Here, too, 'Yakushikyo Sutra' has a description in the section where every evil act done by people will be expiated by the power of Yakushi Nyorai, 'They pray to the spirits of the mountain forests, trees, and graves. They kill living beings in order to make sacrifices of blood and flesh to the yaksha and rakshasa ghosts. They write down the names of their enemies and make images of them, and then they hex those names and images with evil mantras. They summon paralysis ghosts, cast hexes, or command corpse-raising ghosts to kill or injure their enemies' and the section following 'They kill living beings' in particular.
- 妻の侍女が「当家が繁栄したのも姫君の甲斐があってこそ」と発言したのを、妻の前では叱責しておき、後になって、その侍女を呼び寄せ「自分の出世には多分に妻の七光りによるところなのは理解しているが、それを聞いて彼女が付け上がり、夫婦仲が悪くなっても困るから妻の前では、それを言うのは止めて欲しい」と言った。
- When the waiting-woman to his wife said 'this family prospered thanks to ma'am,' he reprimanded her in front of his wife; but later, he summoned the waiting-woman and told her, 'I understand that my promotion was largely due to my wife's influence, but please don't mention it in her presence, so that she doesn't take advantage of it after hearing it and ruin the marriage.'
- 国は、専ら農業を営む者その他経営意欲のある農業者が創意工夫を生かした農業経営を展開できるようにすることが重要であることにかんがみ、経営管理の合理化その他の経営の発展及びその円滑な継承に資する条件を整備し、家族農業経営の活性化を図るとともに、農業経営の法人化を推進するために必要な施策を講ずるものとする。
- In view of the importance of enabling full-time farmers and other motivated farmers to develop originality and creativity in their farm management, the State shall take necessary measures for the revitalization of family farming by means of improving conditions for the rational management and smooth business succession, and the promotion of incorporation of farm management.
- 「南閻浮州東海路夷千島王遐叉呈上朝鮮殿下」で始まる奉書を持参し、夷千島国が従来仏教を知らなかったのが日本と通交するようになって以降仏教が伝来し三百年余りとなったこと、大蔵経が日本にもないので欲しいこと、夷千島国は西辺で朝鮮辺境の野老浦と接しているので野老浦が朝鮮王に反逆した際は征伐できること等を伝えた。
- He brought hosho (letter) which started with the phrase of '南閻浮州東海路夷千島王遐叉呈上朝鮮殿下' (Nanenbushu Tokairo Esochishimao Kasha Teijo Chosen Denka: To Royal Highness of Korea from Kasha, King of Ezochishima located on the east sea), and told that about 300 years had passed after the trading with Japan had brought Buddhism to Ezochishimakoku (Ezochishima country) where there had not been Buddhism conventionally, Ezochishima sought Daizo-kyo Sutra (the Tripitaka) because there was no such Sutra also in Japan, and Ezochishima could conquer Orangkai located in the remote region of Korea when Orangkai rebelled against the King of Korea because Ezochishimakoku bordered on Orangkai in the west.
- 道徳大系としての武士道とは「君に忠、親に孝、自らを節すること厳しく、下位の者に仁慈を以てし、敵には憐みをかけ、私欲を忌み、公正を尊び、富貴よりも名誉を以て貴しとなす」。 ひいては「家名の存続」という儒教的態度が底流に流れているものが多く、それは江戸期に思想的隆盛を迎え、武士道として体系付けられるに至る。
- Bushido as a moral system is 'being loyal to one's lord, being dutiful to one's parents, controlling oneself strictly, being merciful to those of lower rank, having sympathy to the enemy, abstaining from selfish desire, respecting justice and respecting honor more than wealth.' Many of those who followed the Bushido code also possessed a Confucian attitude of 'continuance of family name,' which prospered during the Edo period and was formulated as Bushido.

- In terms of politics, although he himself was the head of a powerful family, he engaged in politics actively by issuing manor regulation acts and so on, and was an able politician, Tokihira was able to demonstrate this ability only for a short time and his rumored early death at the hands of Michizane's vengeful spirit was all the more remarkable considering the fact that his siblings, for that time, generally lived long lives, Nakahira until 71, Kanehira until 61, Tadahira and Onshi at 70 (even in consideration of the practice of adding a year at birth).

- The State shall, in view of importance of enabling motivated fishery operators to develop creative fishery management, take measures such as improvement of conditions that helps management rationalization, promotion of improvement of fishing boats and other facilities, promotion of joint operation of business and others necessary for the promotion of reinforcement of fishery management infrastructure to develop efficient and stable fishery management.
- なぜなら法蔵菩薩(阿弥陀仏の修行時の名)が、48の誓願(四十八願)を建立し、その第18番目の願(本願)である第十八願に「すべての人が救われなければ、わたしは仏とはならぬ」(「設我得佛 十方衆生 至心信樂 欲生我國 乃至十念 若不生者 不取正覺 唯除五逆誹謗正法」)と誓われ、それらの願がすべて成就して仏になられているからである。
- Because long time ago Hozo bosatsu (Amida Butsu when he was still studying) invoked the forty-eight vows, and the main idea of the eighteenth vow (called the Great Vow) had been 'if any one is not saved in this world, I shall not attain Buddhahood', and then he became a Buddha with all his vows fulfilled.

- 奥羽越列藩同盟の崩壊が確実となった明治元年9月17日、伊藤は「五州各国ト並立ント欲スルヤ、世禄ノ制を以国政ヲ立ル不能ハ人々ノ知ル所ナリ」と述べて、日本は海外諸国と同等の国家を目指し、まずそのために天皇に兵権を集中すべきとする意見書を出し、続いて11月に近隣の姫路藩が版籍奉還の申し出をしたと知るや同様の趣旨の意見書を再度提出した。
- On September 17, 1868, when the collapse of Ouetsu-reppan alliance became certain, Ito said, 'Japan should stand side by side with other countries in the five continents and that people know the national politics could not go forward in heredity system.' and submitted a written opinion that Japan should aim at a nation equal to other countries, and for this, the emperor should be given a solo military authority, and as soon as he knew that nearby Himeji Domain offered to return of lands and people to the emperor, Ito resubmitted a written opinion containing a similar statement.
- ところで、5月4日に宗方が「誅せられ」という、その状況が『実躬卿記』5月8日条にあり、5月4日に、時村殺害は宗方の命令であるという噂に対処するため、貞時が師時亭で評定を行っていたところに宗方が「推入来」したため、北条貞時は佐々木時清を使わせて「暫不可来臨之由(暫く来ないで欲しいと)」 と伝えようとしたが、「打合、共落命」してしまったという。
- By the way, the description of the situation in which Munekata 'was killed due to a crime' on May 4 is included in the article on May 8 of Sanemikyoki as follows: on May 4, Sadatoki was having a meeting for deciding a measure to handle the rumor that Tokimura was killed by an order of Munekata at the Morotoki's residence, and Munekata 'was going to come there;' Therefore, Sadatoki sent Tokikiyo SASAKI to inform Munekata that 'they did not want his participation,' but they became to 'fight with each other, with both losing their lives.'
- さらに、三種の神器(八尺瓊勾玉、八咫鏡、天叢雲剣)と常世のオモイカネ、タヂカラオ、アメノイワトワケを副え、「この鏡を私(アマテラス)の御魂と思って、私を拝むように敬い祀りなさい。オモイカネは、祭祀を取り扱い神宮の政務を行いなさい」(「邇邇藝命者 此鏡者同我御魂 欲祭此者 當如拜吾前 尊崇而祭之 次 思金神者 取持前事 輔其為政」『古事記』)と言った。
- Furthermore, he was given the Three Sacred Items (Yasakani no magatama [comma-shaped jewel], Yata no Kagami [the eight-span mirror], Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi [the sword Ame no Murakumo, literally 'Heavenly Sword of Assembled Clouds']) and Omoikane, Tajikarao and Amenoiwatowake from the eternal world to accompany him, and Amaterasu said, 'Think of this mirror as my spirit, enshrine it and worship me. Omoikane, you should be in charge of rituals and take care of the administration of the shrine' (the 'Kojiki').
- 神亀6年(729年)2月、漆部造君足(ぬりべのみやつこきみたり)と中臣宮処東人(なかとみのみやこのむらじあずまひと)が「長屋王は密かに左道を学びて国家を傾けんと欲す。」と密告があり、それをうけて藤原宇合(ふじわらのうまかい)らの率いる六衛府の軍勢が長屋王の邸宅を包囲し、舎人親王などによる糾問の結果、長屋王はその妃吉備内親王と子の膳夫王らを縊り殺させ服毒自殺した。
- Nuribe no miya tsukokimitari and Nakatomi no miya konomuraji azumahito got secret information that 'Prince Nagaya was led into the wrong course and wished to subvert the state', so the troops of rokuefu (six guard divisions) led by FUJIWARA no Umakai besieged the residence of Prince Nagaya and, as a result of inquiries by Imperial Prince Toneri and others, Prince Nagaya ordered to strangle his empress Imperial Princess Kibi and his son Kashiwade no Okimi to death and killed himself with poison.
- 家臣の三輪文屋君は、「乘馬詣東國 以乳部爲本 興師還戰 其勝必矣」(東国に難を避け、そこで再起を期し、入鹿を討つべし)と進言するが、山背大兄王は戦闘を望まず「如卿所 其勝必然 但吾情冀 十年不役百姓 以一身之故 豈煩勞萬民 又於後世 不欲民言由吾之故 喪己父母 豈其戰勝之後 方言丈夫哉 夫損身固國 不亦丈夫者歟」(われ、兵を起して入鹿を伐たば、その勝たんこと定し。
- Vassal MIWA no Fumiya no Kimi advised the prince '乘馬詣東國 以乳部爲本 興師還戰 其勝必矣 (Escape to the East and prepare to fight back against Iruka), but the prince didn't want to fight and said '如卿所 其勝必然 但吾情冀 十年不役百姓 以一身之故 豈煩勞萬民 又於後世 不欲民言由吾之故 喪己父母 豈其戰勝之後 方言丈夫哉 夫損身固國 不亦丈夫者歟' (if we take up arms and fight against Iruka, surely we will win.
- そのため出家者の戒律には、性行為の禁止(不淫戒)、自慰行為の禁止(故出精戒)、異性と接触することの禁止(触女人戒)、猥褻な言葉を使うことの禁止(麁語戒)、供養として性交を迫ることの禁止(嘆身索供養戒)、異性と二人きりになることを禁止(屏所不定戒)、異性と二人でいる時に関係を疑われる行動することを禁止(露処不定戒)など、性欲を刺激する可能性のある行為に関しては厳しい制限がある。
- Accordingly, in the commandments for priests there are strict restrictions for activities that could stimulate sexual desires such as the prohibition of sexual intercourse (fuin-kai), that of masturbation (koshutsusho-kai), that of contact with women (shoku-nyonin-kai), that of using evil-minded words (sogo-kai), that of urging sexual intercourse as a memorial service (tanshinsaku-kuyo-kai), that of staying alone with a woman (byosho-fujo-kai), and that of doing what which incurs a doubt about their relationship at the time of being alone with a woman (rosho-fujo-kai).
- 本来この制度は、排出量の削減による取引上の利益により、さらなる削減意欲を生じさせることを意図したものであるが、逆に排出枠の設定方法によっては過去の排出量が既得権益のようになってしまったり、炭素クレジットの市場価格が化石燃料から再生可能エネルギーへの切り替えや省エネルギー等による排出量の削減にかかる費用よりも割安になってしまった場合に、本来必要な努力を減じさせるおそれもあると指摘されている。
- Originally this system was intended to arouse a further intention of emissions reduction promoted by the benefits of trading through the reduction of emissions, but conversely, it is pointed out that the system can lessen essentially needed efforts to reduce the emissions in the following cases: the amount of emissions of the past becomes vested interest or the like depending on a way of assigning the emissions allowances; if the market price of carbon credit becomes lower than the cost of exchange from fossil fuel to renewable energy or of emissions reduction by using energy-saving material.
- これを『鎌倉年代記裏書』にある「討手陸奥の守宗宣、下野の守貞綱既に攻め寄せんと欲するの処に、宗方は殿中(師時の舘、禅閤同宿)の騒擾を聞き、宿所より参らるるの間...」と組合わせると、時村と共に北条庶流を代表していた大仏宗宣らが手勢を率いて宝戒寺近辺の殿中・北条師時の館の貞時に詰め寄り、その騒擾を察知した宗方が、これも手勢を率いて駆けつけようとしたところで大仏宗宣、宇都宮守貞、佐々木時清らに討たる。
- When combining this with the description of 'When the chasers, Munenobu, Mutsu no Kami, and Sadatsuna, Shimotsuke no Kami, were going to attack, Munekata heard disturbing noise at Denchu (Morotoki's residence where Sadatoki, zenko (one of the three principal ministers with priesthood) stayed) and on his way to the residence from his lodging--' in 'Kamkura-Nendaiki-uragaki,' the following situation can be considered: Munenobu OSARAGI, who, together with Tokimura, was a representative of branch Hojo families, and his followers were getting closer to Sadatoki in Denchu (Mototoki HOJO's residence) near to Hokai-ji Temple, and detecting the disturbing noise, Munekata and his followers rushed to the site, and he was killed by Munenobu OSARAGI, Morisada UTSUNOMIYA, and Tokikiyo SASAKI in the fighting.

- The cases specified by an Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as provided by Article 32-3, paragraph 2 of the Act shall be, for the time being, in addition to the cases provided by Article 20, paragraph 2, the cases under which the fee of 670 yen (or 650 yen in case of a tax exempt business provider) for accepting the job application is collected upon acceptance of the job application of a job seeker for occupations pertaining to the entertainer set forth in the same paragraph, domestic helper (a person who provides general housekeeping businesses (limited to those provided at a house of an individual, dormitory or other equivalent facilities)), care-giving or nursing-assisting businesses for patients, invalids, etc. (limited to those provided at a hospital or other equivalent facility), person in charge of serving food (a person who provides table-coordinating, food-serving or waiting businesses, etc. following proper manners at a hotel, restaurant, hall, etc. serving foods by following proper menu (including the businesses necessary for organizing and storing the tools such as the tableware associated with such businesses)), cook (a person having the expertise and skills concerning the cooking, nutrition and sanitation and providing cooking businesses), modeling in the same paragraph or mannequin (a person having the expertise and advertising skills concerning the goods and providing such advertising businesses as the explanation, demonstration, etc. of various goods for stimulating the willingness to spend of the customers over-the-counter or at the exhibition (including the sales businesses)); provided, however, the amount shall be equivalent to the fees for three such cases per month if the number of the job applications accepted from the same job seeker exceeds three per month.
