- In April of 1924, Makino, after reading 'Shinju Kirarazaka,' a novel written by a then-budding writer, Sanjugo NAOKI (then called himself 'Sanjusan NAOKI') and published in a magazine called 'Kuraku' issued by a publishing house Platon Osaka, happened to meet Naoki accompanying Kaoru OSANAI and Matsutaro KAWAGUCHI of Platon whom he had invited to his film studio, and then asked permission of Naoki about making the novel into a movie.
- なお明応9年8月13日 (旧暦)(1500年9月6日)に近江国守護六角高頼の招待で琵琶湖へ出向していた政家が、近江八景の和歌8首を即興で詠んだことが、近江八景の由来として広く知られているが、近年では八景の始まりは政家によるものではない(政家はこの時期、近江へ下向していない)とする説も有力である。
- It is widely known that Masaie was invited to Lake Biwa on September 16, 1500 by Takayori ROKKAKU, who was Omi no kuni shugodai (provincial governor of Omi Province), and he read eight waka concerning Omi Hakkei (Eight Sceneries of Omi) impromptu became the origin of Omi Hakkei, but it is believed that Hakkei (Eight Sceneries) was not started by Masaie (there was a powerful theory that Masaie did not travel down to Omi at this time).
- この頃までに『大日本野史』の編纂を終え、嘉永4年に全291巻の清書が完成、同年5月29日 (旧暦)(1851年6月28日)、豊島茂文とともに親交のあった人々を招待して「野史竟宴」と題した宴の席、今日で言うところの出版記念パーティーのようなものを催し、出席者はおのおの『大日本野史』の登場人物を選び、その人物を題材にした和歌や漢詩を詠んだ。
- By this time he had finished compiling 'Dai Nihon Yashi,' and a fair copy of all 291 volumes had been complete; on June 28, 1851 he organized a banquet titled 'Yashi Kyoen' (Banquet on Completion of Yashi), which would today be something like a publication party, and to which he and Shigefumi TOYOSHIMA invited their friends; everyone who attended the party selected a character from 'Dai Nihon Yashi' and read waka (modern Japanese poetry) and kanshi (Chinese-style poem) about the characters.
- 霜月神楽の方法はそれぞれの地域・神社によって差異はあるものの基本的には儀式に先立って特定の川や滝から汲んだ水を釜で沸かした湯を神前に供えて、祈祷の湯立を行った後に参加者に振り掛けることで祓禊となし、招待神の名前が書かれた神名帳を読上げるところから始まり、前夜の素面による採物舞の神招き、神讃めの願上、夜半の招待神の神送り、直会(なおらい)、後夜の鬼や翁などの面形舞の神遊び、祝福の式の順序で行われる。
- Though the style of Shimotsuki kagura varies from one region or shrine to another, it is basically conducted in the following order: prior to the ceremony, water drawn from a specific river or waterfall is boiled in a large pot and offered before the gods; after the yudate prayer, participants are splashed with hot water purify them; the kagura then begins with the reading of a list of invited deities; before midnight, the unmasked Torimonomai (dance of symbolic offerings) is performed; prayers are offered in praise of the deities; the invited gods are seen off at midnight; a naorai (feast) is held; after midnight is the Kamiasobi (kagura), with the dancers wearing Oni (demon) or Okina (old man) masks; a blessing ceremony is held.
