- 蓮如は前述のように「他宗派の者が(勘違いして)一向宗と呼ぶのは仕方ないが、我々浄土真宗の門徒が一向宗を自称してはいけない」という主旨の発言をして違反者を破門するとまで述べているが、逆に言えばこれは、浄土真宗の門徒ですら一向宗を自称する者がいた事を意味する。
- As mentioned above, Rennyo stated that 'If people of other sects confuse us with another sect and call us Ikkoshu, that cannot be helped, but the people of the Jodo Shinshu sect should not call themselves Ikkoshu,' and even said that he would expel those who did not obey the order; conversely, this means that even members of the Jodo Shinshu sect called themselves Ikkoshu in those days.
- 慈円の『愚管抄』(巻六)によると、頼朝が初めて京に上洛した建久元年(1190年)、後白河天皇との対面で語った話として、広常は「なぜ朝廷のことにばかり見苦しく気を遣うのか、我々がこうして東国で活動しているのを、一体誰が命令などできるものですか」と言うのが常であった。
- According to 'Gukansho' (Jottings of a Fool) (volume 6), when Yoritomo came to the capital for the first time in 1190, Hirotsune continuingly mentioned to Emperor Goshirakawa that he did not understand why the Emperor's concern was only for the welfare of the Imperial Court but did not know who could control forces active in Togoku.
- さらに、親鸞は自らを深く内省することによって、阿弥陀仏が誓願を起こして仏と成ったと『仏説無量寿経』で説かれていることは、「親鸞一人のためであった」と、阿弥陀仏の本願力を自己のもの、つまり我々一人一人のためであったと受け止め、称名念仏は、行 (仏教)ではなく、その報恩謝徳のためであると勧め教化した。
- Moreover, Shinran (founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect) following a conscious effort at deep introspection elucidated a view that, Amitabha took an oath to build Buddhism as preached in the 'Immeasurable Life Buddhist Teachings' which, 'were written as if just for Shinran' and which, for all intents and purposes are read as if applying to each and everyone of us, and are not just Buddhist chants for intoning but a means to express gratitude for Buddha his teachers and dharma.
- もとより、犯罪等による被害について第一義的責任を負うのは、加害者である。しかしながら、犯罪等を抑止し、安全で安心して暮らせる社会の実現を図る責務を有する我々もまた、犯罪被害者等の声に耳を傾けなければならない。国民の誰もが犯罪被害者等となる可能性が高まっている今こそ、犯罪被害者等の視点に立った施策を講じ、その権利利益の保護が図られる社会の実現に向けた新たな一歩を踏み出さなければならない。
- The primary responsibility for harm caused by Crimes should be borne by perpetrators. However, we, who are responsible for preventing Crimes and securing a society where citizens can live safely in peace, should also listen to Crime Victims. Now that everybody has a higher probability to become a Crime Victim, it is required to make policies from the Crime Victims' viewpoints, and to make a step forward to realize a society where their rights and profits are well protected.
- これらの中には、「南無妙法蓮華経」と唱えることで救われるとする日蓮宗、「南無阿弥陀仏」と念仏を唱え続ける(称名念仏)事で救われるとする浄土宗、浄土宗からさらに踏み込んで「善人なをもて往生を遂ぐ、いはんや悪人をや(善人→煩悩のない無垢な者でさえ往生できるのだから、悪人→我々のような煩悩を具足のように身にまとった者が往生できるのはいうまでもないことだ)」という悪人正機の教えを説いた浄土真宗(一向宗)、踊りながら念仏を唱える融通念仏や時宗があった。
- These sects included the Nichiren sect, which taught that people could find salvation by reciting the nenbutsu (Buddhist invocation) 'Nam Myoho Renge-kyo'; the Jodo sect, which taught that people could find salvation by reciting 'Namu Amidabutsu' continuously (Invocation of the Buddha's Name); the Jodo Shinshu sect (the Ikko sect), which taught Akuninshoki, a teaching that 'if good people, that is, pure people without any Bonno, or earthly desires, can be reborn in the Pure Land, how much more so for evil people, that is, people with Bonno'; the Yuzu Nenbutsu sect, which recommended reciting the nenbutsu while dancing; and the Ji sect.
